Controversial ride-hailing app Uber have been ordered to suspend operations in Slovakia following concerns that the service competed unfairly with competition.
The ban came into effect earlier this month via the Slovak courts but was only announced today with services ongoing in the capital Bratislava.
According to Reuters court spokesman Pavol Adamciak said “The defendant is obliged to refrain from allowing people who do not meet legal requirements”
The taxi association in Slovakia made claims against Uber in January of this year, citing that their drivers did not meet the necessary safety and regulatory standards required within a professional transport industry.
